Regretfully Rose Baxter had to step away from leading the group after the meeting in June due to ill health. Many thanks to Rose for her leadership over the years. I have stepped in, hopefully temporarily, until someone agrees to take over the group on a more permanent basis.
Rose set up the group around 10 years ago, starting off in her own
home and using several venues before the group settled at Brampton Manor Care Home on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Our hosts at Brampton Manor supply tea, coffee and cold drinks along with biscuits.
There are regularly 3 or 4 tables of 4 playing the game, which can
become quite addictive! It is relatively easy to pick up and fun to play.

The Game of RUMMIKUB
Rummikub tiles It is a fun game played with 106 tiles in total. These are numbered 1-13 in four different colours plus two jokers. Players take 14 tiles each and place them on their racks. The remaining tiles form the pool.
To start play, the players must have 30 or more points in one or more sets. Sets are made up of three or four tiles of the same number in different colours or a set of three or more consecutive numbers all in the same colour.
A player who is unable to lay a set of thirty points must continue to take a tile from the pool until he is able to start. After the initial play, players can build on other sets on the table. The player who empties his rack first is the winner.
